Lilac Sunday at the Arnold Arboretum
The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University has a breathtaking collection of nearly 400 lilacs from 179 different varieties and colors. They blossom each year in May and fill the air with a lush, drowsy fragrance that heralds in the start of Spring (in Boston, anyway). The Arboretum has hosted Lilac Sunday, when the lilacs reach peak bloom, every year for the past 110 years. We braved the crowds to make the trip this year and I can say it is well worth the effort.
And here's a brief walk through some of the non-lilac portions of the expansive Arboretum.
